Foundational Principles

The Benchpoint Constitution.

The commitments Benchpoint holds itself to, publicly, even when doing so is commercially inconvenient. Where any future decision conflicts with a principle here, the principle wins.

1

Article 1. Purpose

1.1

Benchpoint exists to measure and verify AI readiness across organisations independently, transparently, and consistently.

1.2

It serves the public interest by replacing self-declaration with evidence, building a reliable picture of capability that boards, clients, regulators, and communities can trust.

2

Article 2. Independence of Standards

2.1

The standard, methodology, indicators, and scoring weights are controlled solely by Benchpoint.

2.2

No external partner, sponsor, vendor, or government department holds veto rights or editing control over the standard.

2.3

Any partnership that attempts to condition funding or access upon changes to the methodology will be declined.

3

Article 3. Publication and Transparency

3.1

The complete methodology of every live Index must be published, maintained, and freely readable.

3.2

Benchpoint will not run hidden indicators or secret scoring rules. If an element affects a score, it must be in the public standard.

4

Article 4. Commercial Boundaries

4.1

Benchpoint assesses readiness; it does not sell the solutions required to achieve it.

4.2

Recommendations for priority moves within a report must cite practice and governance, not specific commercial tools.

4.3

Benchpoint will never accept a referral fee, commission, or kickback for recommending a third-party vendor's product or service to an assessed organisation.

5

Article 5. Accessibility and Equity

5.1

The baseline participation tier for schools will be priced to be accessible within a standard departmental budget.

5.2

The public verification register will remain free to query for anyone, without authentication.

5.3

A reduced-fee or funded route will be maintained to ensure cost is not the sole barrier to assessment for constrained organisations.

6

Article 6. Data Privacy

6.1

The Index measures adult practice, leadership, and infrastructure. It will never request, connect to, or ingest personally identifiable pupil, student, or patient data.

6.2

The detailed findings and identified gaps of a single assessment are private to that organisation unless they choose to publish them. Benchpoint publishes only the earned band or level via the Register.

7

Article 7. Adherence

7.1

In the event of a conflict between commercial expediency and the articles of this Constitution, these articles prevail.
